This Coastal Region Scholarship Program scheme was launched under the direction of the Government of Pakistan for the development of underdeveloped areas of Pakistan and was included in the Accelerated Development of Backward Areas of Balochistan (Phase-I).

Coastal Region Scholarship Program Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must have a domicile/locality certificate of Gwadar, Lasbela/Hub, Kech (Turbat) or District Awaran of Balochistan.
  • The applicant must have completed 12 years of education with at least 50% marks in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or its equivalent.
  • The applicant must have completed both Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or its equivalent from a college/institute located in any of the specified districts of Balochistan i.e. Gwadar, Lasbela/Hub, Kech (Turbat) and Awaran.
  • Students who have taken admission in any BS programme before the advertisement can also apply for a maximum of one academic year/session.
  • The maximum age limit as on the last date is 22 years.
  • Applicants must meet the HEC and University criteria for admission to BS programme.
  • Applicants who are already benefiting from any other HEC/Government Scholarship are not eligible to apply.
  • Students awaiting results are not eligible to apply.

Coastal Region Scholarship Program Terms and Conditions

  1. Final award letters will be issued after securing admission and completion of all necessary formalities including legal documents.
  2. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit and district quota as per PC-I.
  3. Applicants must have secured at least 50% marks in the test conducted by HEC.
  4. Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of Aptitude Test Score (conducted by HEC) and educational qualifications as per the following weightage/formula: (SSC 10%, HSSC 40% and Scholarship Aptitude Test 50%)
  5. The merit list of the scholarship will be prepared on the basis of the online information/data provided by the applicants, and in case of any misrepresentation/error/omission, the scholarship will be cancelled at any stage.
  6. The applications/details of the shortlisted candidates will be scrutinized in the light of the prescribed eligibility criteria.
  7. Scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing/admitted to BS (4 to 5 years) in HEC recognized public and private sector universities/degree awarding institutions in Pakistan in all disciplines of education.
  8. Selected applicants will get admission in the specified program of study in Pakistan.
  9. The scholar will have to sign an agreement/contract before getting the scholarship. The terms and conditions stated in the agreement/undertaking and the award letter will be binding on both the parties. The scholar will also have to provide a guarantee/surety to fulfill his obligations as stated in the agreement/contract.

Financial Assistance

  • Tuition fees and other charges (including hostel fees) up to Rs. 240,000 per annum or as per actual whichever is less.
  • Living allowance of Rs. 15,000 per month.
  • Book and travel allowance of Rs. 30,000 per annum.
  • Scholars will be paid a maximum of Rs. 5000/month or as per actual whichever is less, where hostel is not available in the university from the head university charges.
  • A maximum of one scholar per batch will be awarded financial assistance (total 2) at LUMS and IBA Karachi
  • The scholarship will be paid to the already registered applicants from the last date of application and the tuition fee from the commencement of the session.

How to Apply For Coastal Region Scholarship Program 2025?

  1. Applicants are required to submit their application online through the HEC website https://scholarships.hec.gov.pk.
  2. Hard copies of applications and other documents are not needed at this stage.
  3. Test Fee Rs. 500/- 1Link 1Bill Invoice is to be submitted through participating banks/ATM/Internet Banking/Mobile Banking.
  4. To submit a fee, select 1Link Bill Invoice Payment Service. Open/Sign in to your mobile app and click on Bill Payment or Payment Service (as per your mobile banking app option). 1Click on Bill Invoice Payment Service and enter the User Number generated by the HEC portal. After checking the details, pay the amount. (Test fee is non-refundable/non-transferable).
  5. After submitting the fee through 1link 1Bill Invoice, click the “Verify Online payment” button on the payment screen through the scholarship dashboard.
  6. The applicant has to submit the online application after completing the application form. Incomplete and incomplete applications will not be considered in any respect.
  7. HEC reserves the right to defer or cancel the scholarship process at any stage without assigning any reason.
