Geometric Dimensioning And Tolerancing Training Program Full Course Description:

This GD&T Basic course is based on the latest ASME Y14.5-2018 and ISO-GPS standards. It has been developed and refined over the past 40 years to provide what personnel need to know about GD&T and how to use it in an engineering company.

Our Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Fundamentals training combines lectures with hundreds of animated PowerPoint graphics. Lectures are broken down into a series of student exercises (individual or group) to test participantsโ€™ understanding and engage learners. The total training content consists of 14 units: 6 core and 8 specialized.

The first 6 core units build on each other to develop a strong foundation. Selected topics from the remaining specialized units are added to the core program to create a customized course relevant to the companyโ€™s parts and co-working functions. Both customization and student exercises make this the most practical and engaging course possible.

The GD&T Fundamentals course also uses wood and plastic models to simulate parts, gauges, and inspection equipment. The models demonstrate the physical fit of engineering and design parts. In addition, sample inspection equipment allows for demonstrations of inspection as well as methods for reporting measurement data.

Customizing the Program

This program is fully customizable, covering all topics from the basics of GD&T to intermediate and more advanced/specialized topics in ASME Y14.5. This allows the program leader to adjust the course based on the participantsโ€™ prior knowledge or learning ability.

Geometric tolerancing is a general subject and can be used in a variety of applications from large to small parts, machined parts, sheet metal, composites, turned parts, castings, forgings, weldments, etc. While the basic concepts of tolerance will remain the same, each of these applications may have its specific treatments. The program leader can customize the training by skimming some of the topics and focusing on more applicable topics.
