Prerequisites for Enrollment

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is recommended for enrollment in an online patient care technician course.

Internship Requirements

Phlebotomy Career Training’s Patient Care Technician program is designed for students with at least 6 months of experience as CNAs, home health aides, direct care workers, or other medical professionals. Students must submit a letter on company letterhead from their employer or a notarized resume as proof of experience. Students are required to complete clinical in-patient assessment, phlebotomy, and ECG on a given clinical qualification form. Students need to find and establish their local internship.

How does the internship/ externship work?

As part of the Patient Care Technician Certification Program, students are required to complete an internship that will allow them to observe and/or practice their medication aide skills. Students will be given clinical competency forms by their instructor that they will fill out and submit to receive their certification.
