Approved Clinical Supervisor Online Training NC (45-Hour Program)
This course provides 45 hours of clinical supervision training. This course meets the educational requirements of the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs and LPCCs) and exceeds the requirements for alcohol and drug counselors who intend to pursue the approved supervisor credential. The Approved Clinical Supervisor Online Training NC course 2025 does not meet the requirements for the AAMFT approved supervisor credential, as only courses delivered directly by the AAMFT meet these requirements.
The course meets on Zoom and includes additional assignments to be completed online. The course covers major models of clinical supervision. Developing and maintaining supervisor-supervisee relationships; ethical and legal aspects of clinical supervision; cultural competence in clinical supervision; and structuring, intervention, and assessment methods in clinical supervision.
Required texts must be purchased prior to beginning the Approved Clinical Supervisor Online Training NC course.

Approved Clinical Supervisor Online Training NC Virtual Classroom Sessions
Tuesdays, July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM CDT
“Course participants are required to attend all 5 sessions in full to receive credit. In the event of an emergency, unexpected absence of a pre-registered participant during a 5-week session, the instructor may offer to cooperate with the participant on an individual basis to complete the necessary hours and tasks. This is offered on a case-by-case basis and cannot be guaranteed based on the nature of the absence.
Expectations
Participants are expected to participate in small group discussions and outside of the scheduled class time. Participants are expected to find a one-hour time slot with colleagues to work for each in a small group.
Participants are expected to complete a substantial number of reading assignments at the end of each scheduled course and complete an online quiz/survey.
Participants must submit an APA formatted Philosophy of Clinical Supervision final paper and prepare a final supervision documentation assignment after the last class session.
Participants must submit a final supervision documentation assignment in preparation for preparing clinical supervision documentation required for future best practice clinical supervision.

Please note, there will be a final APA formatted paper that applies the information learned during the course to each participantโs own clinical theoretical approach to the philosophy of clinical supervision. There will also be a final assignment to prepare supervision documents that are required as part of future clinical supervision, both assignments are due by midnight on the last course date.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
- 1. Distinguish the central role of clinical supervision in providing superior clinical care by improving client well-being, ensuring informed consent, and respecting client rights.
- 2. Distinguish the factors that create positive supervisory relationships from the outset, including informed consent for supervision, managing expectations, and appropriate professional boundaries.
- 3. Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical, legal, advocacy, and gatekeeping responsibilities of clinical supervisors.
- 4. Evaluate power dynamics in supervisory relationships and consider issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- 5. Demonstrate a commitment to cultural responsiveness in all supervisory relationships.
- 6. Ensure informed consent for supervision, complete and refer to supervision agreements, model ethics and boundaries, and serve as a gatekeeper for the counseling profession, developing and demonstrating commitment to fulfilling key supervisory responsibilities.
- 7. Articulate a personalized model of clinical supervision, drawing from existing supervision models and preferred styles of therapy and supervision.
Faculty:
Brittany Hamann, PsyD, LPCC (She/She) holds a PsyD and is a licensed professional clinical counselor and board-certified supervisor serving rural Minnesota in private practice. She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from Saint Maryโs University in Minneapolis, MN, and her masterโs degree in clinical psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University.
She has practiced counseling in multiple levels of care, including inpatient psychiatric units, residential treatment, acute outpatient care, and rural health care. Dr. Hamannโs doctoral research, titled โFiring a Supervisor: The Clinical Supervisorโs Experience,โ examined the experiences of clinical supervisors who had fired a supervisee who was also a student.
The focus of the work was to examine the decision-making process and their overall experiences. A Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy-certified clinical supervisor, Brittany has been involved in clinical supervision practice, research, and has taught graduate-level courses in best practice clinical supervision.
